Drew Barrymore's Pinot Grigio Wins Gold in French Competition
Barrymore Pinot Grigio, a wine created by famous Hollywood actress Drew Barrymore, won a gold metal at this year's Le Challenge International du Vin. Barrymore, best known for her parts in movies such as Fever Pitch, Charlie's Angels and Never Been Kissed, recently partnered with wine distributor Wilson Daniels to create her own Pinot. "I love wine, and it's always fun when you can do something in your work life that you love in your personal life," said 37-year-old Barrymore.
Released earlier this year, Barrymore Pinot Grigio uses grapes grown in Northern Italy and has been garnering praise even from those with more distinct palates who are less concerned with Hollywood. Drew Barrymore explains that Pinot Grigio is her own personal favorite style of wine. "It seems very authentic to me. … Pinot Grigio has always been a love of mine. If I go to a restaurant, it's a safe, surefire bet and I love it."
Barrymore Involved in Every Step of the Process
The process of creating the Pinot Grigio took three years, and Barrymore was consistently involved with Wilson Daniels at the vineyard in composing the perfect flavor. "I've been to the winery and to Italy numerous times," said Barrymore. "I liked the idea of working with a family who has done this for generations because I wanted to name this after my family." Famous graphic artist Shepard Fairey worked with Barrymore on the intricate and meaningful label, which took a lot of time and much of Barrymore's resources. "We took painstaking measures to make a label that felt fun and effortless and modern but also includes tradition, and we got to work with Shepard Fairey on a crest of my grandfather's."
Barrymore Pinot Grigio drinkable and pleasant
The wine tasters at L.A. I'm Yours agreed that this Pinot Grigio is delicious, and definitely worth a try. "Let me preface by saying that I hate white wine," said Kyle Fitzpatrick. "A light red, a rose, a champagne: give me those any day of the week. A white? Not in my house. This wine though? A delight. It was so surprisingly good. It's light and refreshing and so extremely drinkable. It's crisp and fruity - but not sweet."
Drew Barrymore took special care in ensuring her wine was exactly what she wanted, and it paid off when her Pinot Grigio won gold at the most prestigious wine competition in France.
