Sonoma County Vineyard Wins Seventeen Gold Medals in First Year

Janice Schmidt has an MS in Enology, and she is certainly putting it to good use at her family’s Estate 1856 winery. In her first year of production, she created three wines that won five gold medals. Overall, the winery won seventeen medals for its Sonoma County wine in its first twelve months of business. Schmidt had a lot to do with the success after learning the art of Cabernet Sauvignon with famed winemaker Rob Davis. Upon tasting the wine from Estate 1856, people agree it’s no wonder they’ve been so successful.

Schmidt’s Wines are Fruity and Unique

Joining a group of talented women winemakers in the United States, Janice Schmidt brings a new flavor to her family’s winery. She considers the process a puzzle where she must fit all of the right flavors and aromas into place in order to create the perfect wine. Her wines are considered fruit forward, and she combines Cabernet, Malbec and Petit Verdot grapes.

If you’re looking for a new kind of Cabernet Sauvignon, look no further than the Estate 1856 winery. With all the gold medals they’ve won in the past year, you’d be hard-pressed to find a taste you didn’t like.
